Learn how to utitilize your serger even more and sew leggings.  The Avery Leggings are the ultimate leg layer. They are simple to sew while still featuring unique details that make them special. The Avery Leggings have no outer leg seam, so you end up with a nice, smooth leg for layering.  Avery has a crotch gusset for improved range of motion that also reduces bulky seams. Each view features a waistband and waistband facing with a fully enclosed and stabilized elastic, ensuring your leggings won’t fall down. Try View A for a classic look, or View B for an ultra-high waist and extra-long legs. The Avery Leggings can be worn anywhere from yoga to the workplace and are a great wardrobe staple. Prerequisites: Serger Basics 1.0 and/or 2.0 or you are able to operate your serger without assistance (you can confidently thread your machine and troubleshoot issues). You will learn: How to take your measurements and pick your correct pattern size How to construct a garment using a serger How to sew a gusset How to sew a waistband How to hem knits We will provide: a copy of the Avery Leggings pattern by Helen's Closet.  You can see it here.  [You do not need to purchase the pattern as it is included in the class fee] You will need: Serger, all accessories and instruction manual - please make sure your machine is in good working order and has all the parts needed.  (You must know how to use your serger for this class) 4 spools of serger thread the pattern traced in your size before the start of class suitable fabric for your leggings, in the quantity suggested by the pattern (please stop by the shop for help to determine how much you need!)  Four-way stretch knits with at least 70% stretch horizontally and vertically. Look for nylon spandex, cotton spandex, bamboo jersey, or rayon jersey. For leggings that aren’t intended to be layered, make sure to find a fabric that is 100% opaque.  1/2-1 elastic in the quantity suggested by the pattern DO NOT CUT YOUR FABRIC BEFORE THE START OF CLASS. The studio has ONE serger available for students. SERGER NOT INCLUDED if you are bringing your OWN serger, please select the ticket type 'Bring your own serger' if you need to borrow the one serger we have, please select the ticket type 'Borrow our serger' WE CANNOT AND DO NOT GUARANTEE that there will be a serger available for you to use if you do not select the appropriate ticket type.
