Gigi Hadid's Sports Illustrated Party Hair How-To: Celebrity Beauty Tips
Our own Leah Melby will have you know that Gigi Hadid is about to go from It Girl to MEGA It Girl once Fashion Month kicks off. (I already adore her for pledging to never get scary skinny, and simply for being the child of the best Real Housewife, Yolanda Foster.) But all that aside for now, let's focus on the fresh hairstyle inspo Hadid brought us at last night's 2015 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue party—her version of trendy slicked-back hair. Celebrity hairstylist Jennifer Yepez based this sleek-sexy style on Hadid's outfit. "We didn't want it to be too severe so we went for something that would be sporty but still feminine," she says. "We decided to go very tight on the sides, creating a clean look while also keeping some volume on top." The look is also ideal for playing up Hadid's pretty blond highlights. Here are Yepez' tips for trying slicked-back hair on yourself: 1. Section hair starting at the nape and apply mousse (like Oribe Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse), focusing on the roots, to create "grip" to hold the hairstyle in place. 2. Use a flat boar-bristle brush, like a Mason Pearson, to blow dry one back
