Volleyball to Hold 3rd Annual Soles4Souls Match on Friday - East

EAST STROUDSBURG – On Friday, the East Stroudsburg University volleyball team will work in conjunction with Soles4Souls to run their third annual shoe drive campaign

EAST STROUDSBURG – On Friday, the East Stroudsburg University volleyball team will work in conjunction with Soles4Souls to run their third annual shoe drive campaign as part of the Warriors' match against Kutztown at 7 p.m. inside Koehler Fieldhouse.

Soles4Souls is a non-profit organization that turns unwanted shoes and clothing into opportunity, by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use – providing relief, creating jobs and empowering people to break the cycle of poverty. As of 2022, Soles4Souls has distributed over 80 million pairs of shoes and pieces of clothing to those in need.

Soles4Souls is a tremendous way to help wear out poverty, one pair of shoes at a time, said third-year head coach Tricia Melfy. When people lack the resources to get through today, it's difficult to focus on tomorrow. Soles4Souls turns new and used shoes into opportunities for education and employment so they can have a more hopeful tomorrow. I have been a part of Sole4Souls for 20 years and seen, first hand, how our donated shoes have changed lives by providing relief to those in crisis situations, providing developing countries opportunity to start and grow businesses, and helping those experiencing homelessness. Please support our ESU Volleyball Sole4Souls shoe drive by donating new or moderately used shoes.

At her previous coaching stops and in two years with the Warriors, Melfy and her programs have donated over 25,000 shoes and she hopes to continue that tradition in the Poconos.

Donation boxes will be set up around campus beginning on Friday. Bin locations will be inside Koehler Fieldhouse, Dansbury Commons, and the ESU Bookstore.

Those interested in donating are asked to bring new or slightly worn shoes to those drop-off locations by Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Fans are also encouraged to bring a pair of shoes to Koehler Fieldhouse the evening of Friday, October 20, when the Warriors host the Golden Bears at 7 p.m. to receive half off admission. The drive extends into Saturday's football game vs. Bloomsburg at 1:05 p.m. where fans who bring shoes will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a ESU swag basket.
